I brought a tens machine which i desire to use at present that I am in this prolonged unestablished labour phase at home. Id only used my tens machine for one night when already the pads accept lost their stickiness and one has fallen off! The replacement pads are quite expensive at £seven a pair. What did other people exercise nigh this? I know information technology sounds light-headed question only tin y'all stick over the top with plaster or selotape? I accept a long way to become even so and demand my tens! Plus im on my own today and deceit get to the chemist fifty-fifty if i wanted to!!

y'all can buy just the tens gel for the pads from boots. Boots ain brand.

i wouldn't stick them on with plaster, added pressure might feel odd.

Yeah, stick them on with tape (utilize that white sticky stuff that isn't quite a plaster - tin't think the right discussion for it). The midwives stuck mine on when I was in labour with dd as they kept falling off.

thats a skilful thought about the gel, besides the white plaster. Im contracting every night (nix in the day) and the midwife said it could take days til baby comes so am relying on the tens for my dwelling pain relief. thank yous!

I have a distant memory that if they lose their sticking power, wiping them over with just a clammy (not moisture!) cloth and allowing them to thoroughly air dry before use, likewise as making certain your skin is make clean and dry before awarding (i.east. not sweaty) can be washed to 're-vitalise' them.
Please don't fry yourself though!!!

Just found this extract on <<the website that shall not be named netmums>> which is along the same lines..
If yous have a tens motorcar that has self adhesive pads which accept lost in that location stickiness, it is sometimes possible to re- activate the sticky by using a small pigment brush (eg from a childrens painting set) and clean tap water. paint a little on and the pad all over and allow it to sit down for a few minutes the gel will absorb the water and go pasty again.
If you put besides much on and then get out the pad in a cool place for a while (I in one case had to go out over nighttime as I was as well generous with awarding),this can be repeated several times and then you exercise not have to buy new pads every time they appear to dry. Although eventually it will cease to work.
Always store the pads on the holder supplied by manufacturer. I found that using self sealing sandwich bags works well to continue them sticky longer.
I got this tip from a physiotherapist friend. I have been using tens on a regular footing for nearly ten years as I accept chronic low back pain and arthritis. I have only one time in ten years had to renew my pads.
Hope it works for you - am hoping to need my tens machine very, very before long!!!

yes, I was going to say - micropore tape. White thin tape, tin buy in outset help section of superdrug, boots etc. The hospital gave me a roll when I asked because my TENS pads kept falling off
It was very helpful!

No you shouldn't stick them on with tape if the y are dry and don't have enough gel. Information technology won't carry the current properly and may prickle. You demand to get the gel to make them work properly. Stick on with record if they are falling off, merely not if they are totally dry.

what about putting a layer of a gel or oil on the pad? something that could carry the electric pulse through and keep a tight connection to the pare?

Agree with most of the advice already given, in improver you can revive the tens pads past storing them overnight in the refrigerator. Using gel can also be effective only ensure information technology is specifically for apply with Tens pads otherwise information technology may damage them. Information technology is important to remember that the pads vary in quality and then be sure to buy tens pads of skillful quality. My sister bought some from these guys www.hcwhealth.com and she actually liked them. (If you knew my sister you would capeesh what an accomplishment that is!)

What causes the lack of stickiness is body oil. Gently washing the surface with dishsoap brings back the stickiness.

You lot should non exist using the TENS unit if your pregnant. This is the starting time thing I ask women earlier putting it on. Information technology tin can cause you lot to become into labor. Next Dont use water to clean the gel pad. Even if you read that on some website. Let'southward use our brain and say oil and h2o does not mix. The reason the pads are not sticking is because of body oil and lotions. Grab some hand sanitizer put a niggling drop on the pad and rub it clean the body oils will come out from the booze and the pads will Get sticky once more. The gel is just silicone and yous can buy it in whatever dwelling house depot Lowes etc. You do not need the pad you lot tin in fact put the electrode direct on the skin. Please never use if your pregnant you could cause wrinkle's.
